Malaysia divorce lawyer - Procedures for Joint Petition Divorce by Malaysian divorce lawyer

1) Once the married couple has discussed and agreed on the terms, they may start to appoint a lawyer to handle the matter.

2) The general documents that are required to be prepared are:-
a) Marriage certificate;
b) Identification cards of husband and wife;
c) Birth certificates / myKids identification card (if any children);
d) Copy of title/sale and purchase agreement (if any property);
e) Any other relevant documents (subject to the case).

3) Once the documents are complete, the lawyer will prepare the draft petition to be reviewed by both parties.

4) Once the parties have reviewed and agreed on the draft, they will sign the petition and thereafter the petition will be submitted to the High Court in order to obtain hearing date.

5) Once the hearing date is out, both the husband and wife must attend to the hearing. Once everything is in order the court will grant the dissolution of marriage. (Hearing date is subject to the High Court).

6) After 3 months from the hearing date, the certificate of dissolution of marriage will be issued.
